Trendy, economical and easy to manufacture, pallet furniture has been all the rage in recent years in our gardens and on our balconies. Sofa, armchair or coffee table, follow our instructions to create your own!

A pallet sofa

To create a pallet sofa, you will need:

  • 4 pallets for the seat;
  • 2 pallets for the backrest;
  • Cushions or floor mattresses to make everything comfortable;
  • What to screw or nail the files if necessary.

If you have planned to have your sofa in pallets against a wall, on your terrace for example, you will only need pallets, no tools! Start by placing 2 of your pallets on the floor, side by side, then superimpose the other 2 on top. In this way, you avoid too low a seat. All you have to do is slide the 2 pallets provided for the backrest between the wall and your seat to finish your sofa. If you do not have a wall, secure the backrests to the seat with screws. For cushions, you can recycle old pillows, buy cushions intended for pallets (like here or here) or even divert a deckchair or floor mattress.

A pallet chair

To make an armchair out of pallets, proceed in the same way as for the sofa but dividing the number of pallets by two. Two superimposed pallets for the seat and a half pallet for the backrest. Then cut the remaining half pallet into half rows and clip two on top of each other to make pretty armrests.

A pallet coffee table

For your pallet garden coffee table, you have the choice! Just overlap 2 to gain height… What is annoying with pallets is that your table will have holes if you use it as is… So why not cover a pallet with glass for example? You can also fill the holes with cleats, put it on wheels or leave a space in the middle to slide a pretty plant!

What could be more romantic than a hanging chair to curl up and devour your favorite novels? For this DIY, you will need only one pallet. Cut your pallet in the middle and remove the lower part so as to create less weight for your chair. Secure the seat and back together using metal brackets and use the cut pieces to make armrests. Secure everything together. Screw metal rings into your armrests and finish with a sturdy chain and carabiners, all you have to do is attach it to a sturdy branch in the garden.

And the others…

With palettes, you can let your creativity run wild! There is no shortage of ideas, here are some of them:

  • Outdoor bar;
  • Plant boxes;
  • Vegetable garden ;
  • Wall planters;
  • Transat;
