Plants dress and are part of the decoration of an apartment or a garden. It is a shame to let them die when you are away for a few days. When we go away, for a weekend or for several weeks, we never know in what state our plants will be when they return. Don’t let them die and leave with peace of mind by adopting one of our tips.

First, place your plants in the shade and in a humid place without depriving them of daylight. To take care of your plants at a lower cost and continuously, here are 3 tips to adopt before going away.

Gel water

Gelled water helps to hydrate your plants by continuing to fight against the phenomenon of evaporation. This technique is effective for several weeks up to 1 month. You will find it in garden centers for around 5 € per block for a pot of 15 to 20 cm in diameter. You will have to put the block on the earth of your plan, it will gradually dissolve in contact with the earth.

White pebbles

The white pebbles help protect the soil from plants that are outside. The color of the pebbles helps to reflect light and preserve humidity. This solution may be suitable for an absence of up to a week.

There are also water soak pebbles for your houseplants. It will be necessary to submerge the pebble for 3 hours, before leaving. Place the pebble in your plant’s pot which will allow it to keep the soil hydrated longer.

The returned bottle

Water in an inverted bottle is a very well known and reliable technique for a short absence. You just need to have a large plastic bottle, make a hole in the cork, push the inverted bottle into the earth, and make a hole at the other end. This technique is not sustainable because your bottle will empty quickly (the faster the 2 holes will be large) and will water your plants for a weekend.

Leave with peace of mind by leaving your plants in autonomy thanks to one of these tips!
